Love the free wireless internet!
We had a wonderful getaway weekend to San Diego
We visited places we had not been and we had nice time. We stayed at the
Country Inn Suites and the room was comfy, roomy and quiet. The bed was
comfortable and so was the computer chair. We really enjoyed the self
serve beverage bar. They provided warm cookies each evening at 7pm.
We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet with make your own waffles, eggs,
meats and so on.After we checked into our hotel on Saturday, we went to the University Town Center Mall,
and browsed. We snacked at the food court while watching people skate at the indoor ice skating ring.
Later we had dinner at Chiles using a gift card I got for my birthday.
Sunday morning we went to the Farmers Market at La Jolla Elementary school.
We filled up on samples, bought some plants and hubby got me some flowers to
take back to our room.
Fresh mangoes and watermelon.
Picking out our succulents.
Our next stop was La Jolla Cove. We found parking on the street and climbed down to the rocky area.
This is where the tidepools. Jr and I each found an area too explore for shells and seallife.
I saw Jr reaching down into a tidepool and figured he was touching something. Then he was flagging me down so I joined him. He told me how he dropped his cell phone in the water and had a hard time retrieving it because of the waves
coming in. He tooked the batter out but I knew it was no good and I said, well it is time for a new
phone anyways and we still laugh about it now.
La Jolla cove.
Jr lost his phone in one of these locations.
Getting a picture before we leave.
We stopped for gas and cold drinks and I took this picture.
Next we headed to Mission Beach. The weather was just beautiful as we walked the boardwalk.
We found a great little Mexican food place to have lunch. We walked across the street to Belmont
Park and enjoyed the sights as we talked about the kids. Then we walked back to the beach.
The sand is softer here than the OC beaches. We headed back to the UTCenter Mall and found the Verizon store and Jr picked out a new flip phone. Then we went to the Whole Food Market and got
some food to take back to our room. We also got our warm cookies from the lobby for our desert.
This is the entrance to Belmont Park.
Blemont Park Roller Coaster
Monday we got up and we decided to go to Coronado Island.
We had not been there since our honeymoon in 1974. We found street parking again and walked towards The Del Coronado Hotel
which was made in 1888. After touring the grounds, we had lunch at the Sheerwater. I ordered pizza and hubby ordered obster bisque.
For desert we had a banana cheesecake with macadameun nuts on an oreo cookie base with nuts. It was great. We walked through the gardens and on the beach.
The Coronado Bridge
Standing in front of the Hotel, just like 37 years ago!
Isn't this beautiful. Made me think of my mom.
The dining room is used for the Sunday Brunch.
All bronze mailbox.
I loved the tea items. Made me think of my cousin Joanie.
Jr liked the clock and we enjoyed the sayings on the wall.
One of them is listed below.
This banana macadamia nut cheesecake on an oreo crust was wonderful!
We were going to head home when hubby decided to go to Old Town in San Diego.
We looked for something to plant our succulents we bought at the Farmer's Market. I normally buy souvenirs but decided not to. We have so many things from being there before. We decided to eat at the Old Town Mexican Cafe where you are served home made flour and corn tortillas.
We share the grilled shrimp dinner that came with a large salad. It was very filling with the chips and salsa. Since were celebrating our anniversary and my birthday, we got a free fried icecream.
Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is a beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is life, fight for it!
