Gosh I have to go way back for this one. In 1967 I took typing at summer school and I cheated. Yes I did sorry to say and it was the biggest mistake I ever made, well one of them. In 1968 I went on a field trip to UCI(Univercity of California at Irvine.)I remember being shown the computer rooms and thought how big and scary! I equated them with math which I did not like.
Now to 1974. Now I am going to school at UCI and I had to take a math class. That was bad enough and then I was told that we had to take test on computers. A student showed me what I was suppose to do and I told him I would come back cause I didn't feel well. That was the truth! I was so worried that I actually paid a friend to take the test for me! Yes I cheated again! That was the last time I cheated and I managed to graduate in 1977.
In 1975 I got a job with the Post Office and things were ok until I hurt my back. So I got a desk job, repairing damaged mail and troubleshooting mail that was mis-addressed or damaged. In 1986 asked me if I could type and I said no, why because I had cheated and never learned the keyboard layout without having to look. 1n 1987 I took a computer class just because I wanted to learn about computers. In 1988 they asked if I had any computer experience and I said yes. Well since then I have had several classed on spreadsheets, which is what I mostly work on. I also have documents and contracts and stuff to do. So yes my typing has improved somewhat.
In 1992 I got my first home computer. I used D-base and Excel and Word. In 1994 I started putting together the newsletters for our Women's Minsitry at church. In 1999 I got a new computer and AOL. Now I was on the WWW and ready to go. I discovered all these neat homepages. I think I broke every graphic rule there was and I had lady email telling me what I was doing wrong. So I set about to learn how to do things the right way. I used pagemaker at Geo and from there with the help of some graphic artist, I learned html. So here I am with 3 websites, a blog and an online study group and totally enjoying myself. People ask how can I be on a computer all day at work and then come home to work on a computer. Well that is because at work it is work and at home it is my hobby! It allows me to be creative and meet friends and I am truly blessed!
